Food is okay; band was terrible
We just happened upon this place last month for a Saturday night dinner. Food and service were satisfying. But, get out of there before a bunch of old guys who can't carry a tune or play any of their instruments start their performance. Johnny B Accelerators, I think was the name. Absolutely horrible, annoying "music." The horn players were the worst we'd ever heard.

Satisfied
We live near Cranberry and often travel to New Castle as we enjoy the local restaurants. We were happy to see Sghetti's has returned to New Castle. Although we enjoy the many restaurants that New Castle has to offer, Sghetti's is our favorite. Great sauce, great salads and a mouth watering rib eye. The snow covered wooded view with a stream is magnificent. Highly recommend.

Excellent
We were extremely pleased with our dinner. The sauce was the best we've had since we enjoyed a fabulous dinner in the little Italy section of Toronto. The server, Jodi was attentive but not overbearing. We sat near the windows and were pleasantly surprised with the view of a stream below. Great job to the staff and management. We will be back.

Fantastic
We just ate at your restaurant for the fifth time in 3 weeks and must admit we are a bit angry with ourselves. Several years ago we encountered an obnoxious waitress and were not satisfied with our meal. We did what many would do and that is, we did not come back. We were recently on our way to Ellwood and noticed Sghetti's has returned to New Castle. We stopped for dinner and admit that no where in this area have we been more pleased. Your sauce is incredible, the place looks wonderful and I couldn't help but notice the rude waitress that we encountered several years earlier is not with you. We did however see her at another local restaurant that we no longer frequent. Lesson learned we should have complained to the owner but instead we just never came back, but glad now that we have. Thanks for coming back to New Castle.

Thank you for returning to New Castle. We were in town visiting our parents and so pleased to find you were back in town. My husband loved the Prime Rib and I had Chicken Marsala which is my favorite. Your sauce is second to none but what I really missed was the salad dressing. We will be back around the fourth and sure to stop by. You're just one more reason why we enjoy coming home.

Fantastic
Within the past 2 months we have been to Boston, Toronto and New York. We customarily visit the "Little Italy" sections in each respective city and we could not help but distinguish the food quality at your restaurant compared to the areas we have recently visited. All I can say is we enjoyed dinner 3 evenings in a row...My only advice and suggestion is to get out of Hermitage PA. Your restaurant was empty and my wife and I could only assume the folks in this area do not enjoy authentic Italian cooking. Your sauce was mouthwatering...We are the ones who ordered 4 gallons to go. We left our name and address...please let us know if you move. Grazia!

Great idea
We are frequent diners at your restaurant and were surprised as we were watching the nightly news to see a story about this new "pay what you think it is worth" promotion. We stopped in for dinner both Friday and Saturday evening and were pleased to see a packed house. We spoke to Domenick who said the community embraced this idea and much to our surprise he further stated that the community has been more then generous with a larger percentage of the people actually paying more than the few that may be taking advantage of this generous offer. Our meals were great...We know your prices so we paid what we generally pay for dinner. Keep up the good work. We will see you Friday...The battered fish is the best I have ever eaten.

I posted on February 18 2008 after a miserable dining experience. My wife and I returned a week or so ago as we also again visited on Saturday evening. The food was great, the service was timely, friendly and courteous. And yes, the silverware was clean. Thank you and we will be back soon.

Great place
My wife and I are frequent diner outers. We are from Hubbard and we often travel neighboring cities to frequent our favorite restaurants. When hungry for Italian we visit Sghetti's located in Hermitage. We have never been disappointed. The portions are large...the food is second to none...the price is inexpensive and if you are fortunate enough to get Pam, our favorite server, she will make certain your evening is perfect. If anyone reads these things you owe it to yourself to try them out...We did and we love it.
Considering the economy my husband and I have decided to limit dining out. We saw your ad in last weeks paper about "The all you can eat Pasta" for 6.99 and decided to take our family. With children under 8 eating free my husband and I enjoyed a great dinner with 2 of our kids for under .00. Pizza or fast food would not have been that inexpensive. My husband just called me from work reminding me to have the kids ready for our Pasta night out. See you folks around 6:00.
We decided to try out your Sunday Buffet and all we can say is we have found a new place to have Sunday dinner with our family. All that food and dessert included for .99 is hard to believe, The food tasted great, the service was pleasant and your dining room is warm and comfortable. Thank you, we will see you Sunday.

Surprised
We have been a long time fan of Combine Brothers located right up the street from your establishment. I am not knocking that place for we have been regulars their for years. Last week on a very snowy night we were in the area and stopped for dinner. They had closed early. As we were headed south on 18 we decided to stop at Sghetti's. We were pleased that you were opened but shocked to realize what we have been missing. The warmth and comfort hit us as we walked through the front door. The owner was gracious enough to give us a tour as he spoke lovingly of the many family photographs that adorn the walls. We were sat in a very cozy lower level booth and our dining experience could not have been better. The sauce was incredible. The meatballs were bigger and better than my mothers. The calamari was the best I ever had and the Smelts were as good as a restaurant we use to visit in New Castle. The portions, although not as generous as Combine Brothers, was enough to get full and take leftovers home with us. We will be back...Great job, Mr. Sghetti...very impressed!

Puzzled
I am from out of town and business takes me to this area 2 to 3 times per year. I always stay at The Holiday Inn and look forward to dining at Sghetti's located across the street. I travel the world and have recently enjoyed 4 wonderful evenings dining in what I consider one of the finest restaurants I have visited. I look forward to returning each and every time I am in the area. A question that I have asked the owner of which I cannot figure out is where are the locals? The price is right and I have never left dissatisfied. I use to visit Combines which I always enjoyed and I will go back but I cannot understand how a restaurant of that caliber can go unnoticed in the area. As an out of towner that question makes me wonder.

Fantastic
We tripped over this place as we decided to stay in Hermitage as opposed to travelling the snow covered roads back home to Pitts. All I could say is you would be served well to relocate to Pittsburg...Preferably the South Side. Wow food and service was great...Good job Mr Sghetti
We met friends at the Old C.W. Dandy's for drinks and ended up eating dinner. Sghetti's restaurant is attached to the lounge and all I have to say is Thank you Sghetti's. I knew of Sghetti's in New Castle but did not realize they are now located within a few minutes from my home. Wow what a pleasant surprise. Food and service was great. I was surprised to see prices seemed to be less expensive then they were when I last visited them, for my birthday, in New Castle a few years ago. Also the lounge has the best atmosphere.
This place cant get no better.. I don't understand why they arent busy.. Everything is wonderful dinning area and lounge. There staff is very wonderful too. I have had the best service there from a waitress named Justine she is very hard working and does her best to make your dinning experience the greastest. They have combines beat if you if you asked me. people you need to open your eyes and go there and taste what your missing.. Ps. if you have had a bad experience it dont hurt to go back and give the place a second try. I am sure if you explain to them what the problem was they will make it better the next time.. TAKE MY WORD FOR IT!!!!!

No where have I eaten sauce so good that you could drink it. I asked to taste the sauce which came out in a bowl with fresh breadsticks. I could have made a meal out of that itself. My Angel Hair was perfectly cooked and my friend Dave thoroughly enjoyed his Steak Salad. Kudos to the chef. Need to bottle that sauce...

Thank you for including salad with your dinner. We were in the area Saturday evening and decided to stop in for dinner. The house salad dressing is wonderful and I could have made a meal on your breadsticks and marinara sauce. I think your server may have been getting upset since I kept asking for more sauce and breadsticks. She was friendly and accommodating. The stuffed shells were great. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his veal parm. Your sauce is the best.

Glad to be back
My wife and I just returned from dinner. I must admit that I wrote this place off. Last summer I had back to back bad experiences with service. Much to our dismay we received a gift certificate for our wedding anniversary. Not wanting to waste the certificate we decided to give them another try. Tonight has been our 4th visit in three weeks. All I can say is whatever was broke has now been fixed. The waitress could not have been more friendly and the food is about as good as I have eaten. Hey Mr. Sghetti you should thank our friends Tom and Kathy for the gift...If not for them we would have never been back. Then again I think that would have been our loss not just yours. Keep up the good work. By the way I think your relative was my football coach back in the old days at Sharon High. Bringing our family in this Sunday...
We were in town on a shopping trip to the outlets. We were impressed with our stay at the Holiday Inn Express and spent more money shopping then anticipated. The highlight of our trip was our dining across the street at Sghetti's Italian Bistro. I met the owner who is very Italian and projects a great image and feel for his restaurant. The food and service was fabulous. Owner Eugene talked me into smelts...Wow they were fabulous. Gnocchi was great...best sauce I ever ate. We will return. Eugene, if you read these things, great job!

Not so much........
Stayed at the Quality Inn Saturday night. Was told that the restaurant served breakfast until 10 am. Got here at 9:35 am and was told by the server that they wern't serving any more breakfast. When I asked why, she said "Sir--Sir!" We served over 100 breakfasts this morning, the tables are dirty, we're out of clean plates and silverware---we're done sir! Guess the complimentary breakfast offered and advertised by the hotel depends on this girl's cood and capabilities. Very disappointed.

Pleasantly surprised
I was in town on business for a few days. I asked the hotel clerk for a restaurant recommendation. One of her suggestions was Sghetti's which is located across the street. I was apprehensive due to my travels. I travel extensively and learned a lesson on dining inside hotel restaurants. I went against my instincts and opted to try them out. Much to my surprise this cozy, very Italian restaurant far exceeded every expectation that I had. From the aroma, music and "family" photographs to the stuffed hot banana peppers, smelts, bracciole, chicken marsala and fettuccini alfredo...I could not have been more satisfied. The salad was crisp and although I am not a fan of breadsticks they were freshly baked and seasoned. Delicious. I was in town for 3 nights and enjoyed dinner each and night. You taught me a valuable lesson...Grazia!
Every 2 weeks my wife and I take our family out to dinner. With grocery store and gas prices increasing we are very careful of the restaurants we choose. Our favorite is Sghetti's Italian Bistro. We live in Hermitage and were very excited when we found they moved into our neighborhood. I recently drove by on my way home from work and much to my delight I noticed a sign indicating they now serve salads with dinner. Thank you to whomever made that decision. Our family had a wondereful dinner there on Friday evening. It was great to see some of the familiar faces. The restaurant was noticably not as busy then it was 4 or 5 months earlier but the food and service has not changed. It was great...thank you! See you in a couple weeks.

I head a group of guys that for the past 24 years has gone on 2 golf trips per year. Most of us are from Pittsburgh and have travelled as far south as Florida. We recently completed a trip to the Hermitage area and I must comment that one of the courses did not live up to it's reputation. The surprise of the trip was the food and service at Sghetti's restaurant inside the Quality Inn. The food was excellent. The service could not have been better. The first night we stayed I had to try the sauce. I asked to see the owner since I thought we may have been related. His sauce was as close to my Mother's as any I have ever tasted. The portions were large. The food was served hot...and the breadsticks...move over Olive Garden. We enjoyed the Golf but the food will bring us back. Why are you located in Hermitage PA?

Absolutely The Worst
I took my wife there for her birthday. The food was cold. Not that tasty. Silverware was dirty. The service was horrible.
For the area, Sghettis is one of the best restaurants. The service might not always be the quickest, but the food is great. I've never tried nay of the fish dishes. I've never had a problem with what I've ordered. The cavatelli is awesome. In addition, I've had 2 parties (in their banquet room) and the food has been excellent with excellent service. I've received multiple comments after both parties. Everyone that attended was happy.

WHAT happened ??
POOR service, just to start, I was there on a Friday night to to invite the owner to a radio show , I had the squid, it was over cooked & like rubber & the next morning I went in for breakfast, what a JOKE, the poor UNTRAINED waitress was in tears , the room was still dirty from the night before & the kitchen looked like it had never been stocked , I was with a party of about 20 /25 guys waiting for a bus to leave in 75 minutes from the time the place was supposed to open, I got my breakfast because I cooked it my self, I dont know what the staff was doing , But I was able to get a few eggs cooked & made the bus on time, I had to make coffee & serve it to all that were there & still after all the help I gave the staff I was given a bill for my breakfast, & she didnt have any change for a lousy 10 !, but she did get one hell of a big tip, , NEVER again ! this place was fine & top shelf the first time I ate there, but this time dammmmmmmmmmmm GIGI , you better get a grip on the place !
Valentines Day.. No wait? and there is a Lounge Lizard singing his heart out for my date? Add great food, tasty wine, and that my friends is a good eve...
We visited the establishment 01-20-2007. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, COLD FOOD - even after two tries at reheating. Poor service due to our waiter also working in the bar.

night out
My wife and I decided to try this place because we like to patronize local eateries. We had dinner on a weekday evening. I ordered the Tuna, which I had to ask what kind it was, because the menu said sushi style tuna. As far as I knew sushi style could be any kind of tuna, but that is irrelevant. I was informed it was Ahi, so I ordered it medium rare. I like rare but figured it would be raw so I ordered med rare in hopes of something in my range. I was served med mell tuna. No big deal, I thought. I told my very kind waitress about this and she took it back. Keep in mind that I very rarely say anything as far as food preparedness goes. After a little wait, she brought out some Tuna that had an aweful smell to it. All I could gather is that the kitchen was upset and gave me an old cut. I am a Chef and have spent many years in the Southern California area. I was kind about the old Tuna, and politely took it home. I swear it began to stink up my house. I froze it to keep it from smelling any worse because trash night was 6 days away. On the other hand, the waitress was wonderful. The hot peppers were excellent, and my wife enjoyed her vodka pasta. The calamari was so so. It seems like this place is trying but has a challenged kitchen staff. The wait staff is great. I suggest getting a drink here and ordering the hot peppers in oil and a salad, and then drizzle the oil onto the salad. Very Good!
